Here are close up pictures of the exquisite framed antique French documents, which date from the 1700s through the late 1800s. They are framed in a custom carved frame, with conservation quality glass.

I am very excited to introduce the newest offering in the Quatrefoil Design store, framed antique French documents! These are one of a kind, and framed beautifully in a custom aged gilver frame. All were written in the 18th and 19th century, with beautiful script handwriting. Whenever I see an antique document like this, I wonder what the life of the author was like hundreds of years ago...

New items: Architectural Renderings

We worked closely with an award winning architect to create these stunning architectural renderings. The original was painstakingly handdrawn using an antique architectural element as reference. A limited edition of these beautiful renderings were professionally created on archival paper. These are the first of a series that were created to look beautiful hung as a set - in art wall format. They would also make an excellent addition to any grouping of framed items.

We are in the process of getting the first group framed. All of these designs are hand signed by the architect, numbered, and framed in your choice of gold, silver, or gilver frame.

I have always loved monogrammed and embroidered pillows, and am very excited to be able to offer pillows that are absolutely top notch quality in construction. These are professionally made by a monogram company with professional equipment; the thread count of the embroidery is very high.

We are very excited to be launching a new line of embroidered pillows, all meticulously crafted to the highest standards. After all, we would never put anything in the Quatrefoil Design store that we wouldn't put in our own homes!

The Wellesley is a one of a kind, created custom with your monogram. Although we have a great selection of neutral and contrast linen colors, it is possible to customize this pillow with your own contrast color fabric, and we will match the thread color of the embroidery to coordinate with your fabric. The example shows the French pleat option on the edge; this pillow is also available with flange and corner pleats.

The Princeton pillow, with laurel detail and monogram and microcord on the edge. This pillow, at 16"x20", is the perfect size to go on an arm chair, in the middle of a sofa, or on a bed.

The Stanford, with a beautiful Celtic knot pattern, it sized at 16" x 26", and is finished with a flange edge and pleated corners. This example shows a custom design by a customer with fabric that matched their bedding. We offer a great selection of neutral and contrasting fabrics; any of our pillows are available with customer's own material.

The Davidson, sized at 22" square, is incredibly versatile. It can be used on a sofa, side chair, or bed. In fact, we think it is the ideal size on a king bed with euro shams - the 22" size goes perfectly with the 26" euro shams. The design shown in this picture is our Calligraphy Flourish, with frayed edging. This can be created in any color or thread combination! It is also available with a custom embroidered monogram.

Beautiful arrangement

We picked up an order today, which is now packed up and on its way to the client.

Here is a picture I took of the arrangement right before it was packed (a quick little picture - sorry for the glare) - I think this is a striking arrangement of three. These are the large size, 17 5/8"x 21 5/8" outer measurement. From left to right, Ansley/Brandon/Paris.

Intaglio as accessory

We are constantly thinking of new ideas at the Quatrefoil Design store, and are particularly excited about our newest offering, 'La Petite'.

This charming piece measures 7.5"x7.5" and is 2" inches deep, so it stands on its own. This enables it to be used either as an accessory or as part of a series on a wall.

It is available in any of our frame finishes and mat colors, or in the new styles shown in the two previous pictures - with the shadowbox effect, and the 'rough luxe' look where the inside frame in unfinished for a rustic touch.

We think it would look great in a bookcase, to give sculptural interest.

One of our clients displayed her 'La Petite' on a side table.

The cropping is not perfect, but here is an idea of how they would look in a row (in real life they are all the same size!).

Photographing the framed intaglios has been a challenge. Because of the shadowbox nature of the framing, there are quite a few shadows that were appearing in the pictures. We then used professional photography full spectrum lighting, which worked beautifully, but the pictures have a slightly warm cast.

The intaglios were photographed against different backgrounds. The reality is that the actual color is somewhere in between; it is almost impossible to capture on film what is seen by the human eye.

Intaglios in the home

One of my favorite looks is a series of framed intaglios on the wall. There is something so classic and elegant about intaglios, and the three dimensional quality makes them sculptural as well.

Here is an example of a series of framed intaglios above a bed. Notice how the frames are pefectly hung to reflect the curve of the bed.

A series of eight framed intaglios flank a mirror in this dining room scene. I always think the more the better - eight framed sets makes quite a statement in this room.
